Nobody likes a poor sport, and if they do, it’s generally because they themselves are one. That’s one of the reasons why you NEED a strong, friendly personality when trying to gain money for your business. If you have bad character attributes, then nobody will want to support you with their own hard earned funds.
It’s just that plain and simple.
Look at it from this point of view — who would you rather support?
- Someone who treats their employees/coworkers fair, who always smiles and greets people in a friendly manner. Always thanking their team members after an extra hard day’s work, and caring about them not as “slaves” but actual human beings.
- Someone who treats their employees/coworkers as if they are dirt, who is frowning and acts rudely to everybody. Someone who acts ungrateful for the work that their team members do, and not caring for them any outside of the business.
Naturally, you would care to support the first, right? Of course. The latter would be a risky investment, as their business would likely fail due to their poor personality. Customers will not want to work with them as they feel they are being belittled, team members will quickly leave to go elsewhere, and with word of mouth (both when out and about, and online) the business will fail quickly.
As the old adage goes, you catch more flies with honey than vinegar; and to this day it’s still true.
That’s why good character attributes are important. They are what keep your business afloat, and what gets you more of the funding you need, in these trying times; and being a sour puss just doesn’t cut it. After all, so many businesses barely launch, or launch and fail shortly after, most of the time due to poor business practices. Surely you don’t wish to be one of them, do you? Not in the least! You want to succeed, and get your money, and get your name out there — and the biggest thing to keep in mind with this, is having a good, likable personality.
